Blue City, Red Menace

Roger L. Simon reports that President Bush's support in Beverly Hills this year was more than double what it was in 2000.

Here is the breakdown for Beverly Hills:

2004 UNOFFICIAL

BUSH 42.38% KERRY 56.98% OTHER .64%

2000 OFFICIAL

BUSH 20.47% GORE 76.51% OTHER 3.02%

This has got to come as quite a shock to the Hollywood elite who will suddenly find themselves branded as homophobic, redneck, snake-handling bigots by the East Coast elite.

As one commenter cleverly said: "The only thing I can think of is that the Clampetts have moved back to Beverly . . . Hills, that is."

Addendum: I don't know why I didn't make the most obvious statement here; that this wouldn't be the first time that people were concerned about "reds" in Hollywood. But what a difference a half a century makes, eh?

The Bush twins may have brought in some of the Rodeo Drive crowd.

Great work with your blog by the way. I love the stories about life in Wisconsin. I've been in Calif too long I'm afraid.
